Verdict: Detail-rich but not sticky enough on repeat.

From a mix desk perspective, Rebecca Black builds Corsetry like a signal chain — each section adds a controlled increment rather than a theatrical drop.

Relative to peer dark-pop singles this season, the stereo field on Corsetry is narrow on purpose, and that choice either flatters small speakers or punishes them — here, mostly the former.

Frequency masking is mostly avoided; the midrange stays intelligible even when the pad swells. That discipline is rarer than the genre's aesthetic suggests.

Measured take from the DAW seat: 5.8/10. Detail-rich but not sticky enough on repeat.

lowkey think you’re underselling the atmosphere. replayed it four times.

the comments saying ‘not dark enough’ are wild. it’s soft-dark. that’s the point.

Verdict: A lovely corridor that ends too soon — or too emptily.

I keep returning to Corsetry the way one returns to a bruise under silk: curious, careful, a little devoted, unwilling to look away too soon.

What lingers is texture — velvet, frost, the faint metallic taste of a held note — more than any single lyric you could quote at a party.

The middle of Corsetry is where the romance turns gothic: not horror, exactly, but the sweet dread of being seen too clearly in a soft room.

6.4/10 — a romantic gothic for the summer that refuses sunlight. A lovely corridor that ends too soon — or too emptily.
