Charli xcx — “SS26”

Something in SS26 made my shoulders drop. That is usually how I know I will write about a song.

On a second listen I caught myself matching their inhale. That is rarer than a clever bridge.

Enough said, almost: 6.2/10. Almost intimate; still a little guarded.

Some songs arrive as weather. SS26 arrives as a room you did not mean to enter, perfumed and dim, already remembering your name.

In the chorus, desire and dread share a glass. The arrangement refuses to rush the ache; instead it lets the room grow colder by degrees until the hook feels less like a peak and more like an inevitability.

If dark pop is literature wearing a club dress, this track reads like a letter you should not have opened — ink still damp, pulse still audible — and will not stop rereading.

I close the door softly and still write 6.1/10. A lovely corridor that ends too soon — or too emptily.
